The death sentence of a woman prisoner from Tabriz named Ruqiyeh Abedini, who was previously sentenced to death for the charge of "premeditated murder", was carried out in the central prison of Hamedan.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Thursday, August 10, 2023, the death sentence of 40-year-old Ryqiyeh Abedini, from Tabriz, was carried out in the central prison of Hamedan.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, Ruqiyeh Abedini was arrested three years ago on the charge of "premeditated murder" of her husband and was later sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.
Simultaneously with the execution of this woman prisoner, the death sentence of a Kurdish prisoner from Kangavar named Afshin Rahim Hedayat, 30 years old, was also carried out in Hamedan Central Prison. He was previously arrested and sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
So far, the news of the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced in the Iranian state media, especially the media close to the Iranian judiciary.
Based on the statistics registered in the statistics and documents center of Hengaw, since the beginning of this year, at least 11 women prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons.
