Political prisoner Marzieh Ebrahimi Shamsabadi sentenced to death

The Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court has sentenced political prisoner Marzieh (Souda) Ebrahimi Shamsabadi, 32, to death on a charge of “corruption on earth.” The ruling also includes the confiscation of all her property and a permanent ban from government and public service. Ebrahimi Shamsabadi, who suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), has been held in Bandar Abbas Central Prison since her arrest during the 40-day war.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, her case includes accusations of “intelligence and security activities on behalf of hostile governments,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” “media and propaganda activities against national security,” and “photographing a military site.” Security agencies cited as key evidence a photograph she allegedly took from a distance of a site struck by a missile and sent to Persian-language media outlets outside Iran.

Ebrahimi Shamsabadi is from Arak, the capital of Markazi Province, and resides in Bandar Abbas. Security forces arrested her in April 2026 amid developments related to the war and transferred her to Bandar Abbas Central Prison.

She has had MS for approximately six years and also suffers from psoriasis, narcolepsy, and severe stomach colic.
