Hengaw has been informed that the Iranian government forces have arrested the family members of Komar Daroftadeh, the Kurdish teenager from Piranshahr who was killed during the protests, on his birthday commemoration and confiscated their personal belongings. These forces have forced Komar’s family to take off their clothes as well.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at around noon on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the Iranian government forces arrested Hassan Daroftadeh and Hajar Barzanji, the parents of Komar Daroftadeh, as well as Mardin, Zhakaf, Medya, and Afsana Daroftadeh, Komar’s siblings.Hajar Berzanji suffered a nervous attack due to the threat of the Iranian forces with a gun and was taken to the hospital after her release.
It should be noted that Zhakaf and Medya Daroftadeh are the younger brothers and sisters of Komar and are under the age of eighteen.
According to an informed source, the Iranian government forces arrested Komar Daroftadeh’s family members at the entrance checkpoint of Piranshahr while they were on their way to the village of "Zewikeh" to celebrate their son's birthday on his grave.
This source added: The Iranian government forces at the Piranshahr checkpoint have forced the members of this family to take off their Kurdish clothes that they had put on to celebrate Komar’s birthday and took away the clothes along with their other belongings, including all their mobile phones and other materials that were prepared for Komar’s birthday.
It should be noted that Hassan Daroftadeh and Hajar Barzanji, as well as their children Mardin, Zhakaf, Medya, and Afsane, were released and sent home after a few hours of detention. Also, Hajar Barzanji was taken to the hospital.
On Saturday, August 12, Hasan Daroftadeh, Komar’s father, was summoned by IRGC intelligence and warned to refrain from holding any ceremony on the occasion of his deceased son's birthday. During Komar’s funeral, he acknowledged his son's death for "freedom" and "homeland" as a matter of pride.
