The death sentences of five prisoners, including two Baluch prisoners from the city of Bam by the the names Awad Moradi and Ramazan Khorsheed, in Kerman Central Prison were carried out. Prior to this, the death sentences of two prisoners, Saman Asgari and an unidentified prisoner, were executed in Karaj Central Prison, and another inmate named Samad Moradi was executed in Ramhormoz Prison.
According to reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Sunday, September 11th, 2023, the death sentences of Awad Moradi and Ramazan Khorsheed, two Baluch prisoners residing in Bam, were executed in Kerman Central Prison.
As reported by the Hal-Wash news agency, Awad Moradi and Ramazan Khorsheed were detained six years ago on charges related to drug trafficking offenses and were later sentenced to death by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The identities of the three other executed prisoners in Kerman Central Prison have not been confirmed as of the time of this report. These three prisoners are also reported to have been charged with drug trafficking.
On the same day, the death sentence of a prisoner from Izeh named Samad Moradi was executed in Ramhormoz Central Prison. This 30-year-old inmate had previously been sentenced to death for homicide.
Prior to this, on the morning of Wednesday, the 27th of September 2023, the death sentences of Saman Asgari, 29 years old, and another inmate by the first name Mozaffar, 56 years old, were executed in Karaj Central Prison. These two prisoners had been detained on charges of premeditated murder and were sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced in government media, especially the media affiliated with the judiciary.
