The count of executed prisoners at Birjand Central Prison in South Khorasan has risen to five following the authentication of four additional executions. The names of these executed individuals are Mohammad Nabi Shahouzahi (Lojei), Mohammad Mirshah, Reza Shahraki, Omid Jovini, and Abdul Basir Mohammadani.
According to reports obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, during the early hours of Thursday, October 26, 2023, the death sentences of two prisoners from Zabol in Sistan-Balouchistan province, specifically Mohammad Mirshah and Reza Shahraki, as well as Omid Joyni from Torbat-e Heydarieh, Razavi Khorasan province, were carried out at Birjand Central Prison.
Simultaneously, Haalvsh news agency reported the execution of Mohammad Nabi Shahouzahi (Lojei), the uncle of Khodanur Lojei, who was killed by security forces during the (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) Women, Life, Freedom movement. Mohammad Nabi Shahouzahi was apprehended three years ago.
Furthermore, the execution of Abdul Basir Mohammadani in Birjand prison had been previously announced. He was 30 years old and a resident of Zahedan.
These five individuals had been arrested in previous years on charges related to drug-related crimes and subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Notably, as of the time of composing this report, the news of these executions had not been disclosed in government-affiliated media, particularly media outlets closely associated with the judiciary.
