The death sentences of two prisoners named Farshad Shahbazi and Mohammad Behzadi, who were previously sentenced to death for drug-related offenses, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the death sentences of two prisoners named Mohammad Behzadi from Kerman and Farshad Shahbazi from Tehran were carried out in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj.
Hengaw has been informed that these two prisoners were previously arrested for drug-related offenses and later sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
These two prisoners, along with several other prisoners, were transferred to the solitary cell of Ghezel Hesar prison to execute their sentences yesterday. There is no information about the fate of the other prisoners.
It is noteworthy that, as of the time of this report, there has been no official announcement of the execution of these two prisoners in government-sanctioned media outlets, particularly those aligned with the judiciary.
