The death sentence of a prisoner identified as Asghar Barzegar has been carried out in Yazd Central Prison. This prisoner had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug-related offenses.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Thursday, January 4, 2024, the death sentence of Asghar Barzegar, 32, was implemented in Yazd Central Prison.
According to The Iran Human Rights Organization, this prisoner was detained three years ago on charges related to drug-related offenses and later sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Notably, as of the time of this report, there has been no official announcement of the execution of this prisoner in government-sanctioned media outlets, particularly those aligned with the judiciary.
