Rasht – Death row prisoner Mohammad Azish ends his life in Lakan Prison

Mohammad Azish, a 24-year-old Gilak prisoner sentenced to death, committed suicide in Rasht Central Prison (Lakan), ending his life.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Azish, a native of Rasht, took his own life inside Lakan Prison.

Sources informed Hengaw that he had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and was ultimately sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

The prisoner committed suicide by swallowing pills and methadone syrup, and died shortly afterwards.
