The death sentence of two Afghan inmates, identified as Noor Mohammad Tajik and Abdul Basit (surname undisclosed), previously convicted of "homicide" by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was carried out in Qazalhessar Prison, Karaj.
According to a report received by the Hangaw organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Monday, March 11, 2024, the death sentence of Noor Mohammad Tajik and Abdul Basit (surname undisclosed), both citizens of Afghanistan, residing in Iran, was implemented in Qazalhessar Prison, Karaj.
These two inmates, sentenced to death for premeditated murder, had been transferred to solitary confinement on Saturday, March 9th, in preparation for the execution.
As of the time of compiling this report, the execution of these two Afghan citizens has not been announced in government-affiliated media, particularly those close to the judiciary.
Based on the data recorded by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, during the year of 2023, at least 28 Afghan nationals were executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
