Death Sentence of Afghan Inmate Implemented in Isfahan-Iran

The death sentence of Afghan inmate Abuzar Salem, previously arrested for homicide and sentenced to death, has been carried out in Isfahan's Dastgerd Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, the execution took place on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Salem, 30 years old and from Puli Khumri in Afghanistan, was arrested three years ago for murder and subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

As of this moment, the execution has not been announced to the public by state-affiliated media. 

According to statistics from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 28 Afghan nationals were executed in Iranian prisons in 2023.
