Execution of Five Prisoners Including an Afghan National in Mashhad Central Prison

The death sentences of five prisoners in the central prison of Mashhad (Vakilabad) were carried out. These inmates had previously been convicted and sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran for drug-related crimes. Among them, four were from Mashhad and one was reported to be an Afghan national.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the dawn of Monday, April 15, 2024, the execution of three prisoners from Mashhad, named Behrouz Namdar, Mostafa Abdi, and Javad Beigi, took place in Mashhad's central prison.

According to Haal Vsh, the three prisoners, whose identities were verified, along with two others—Ali Ahmadi from Afghanistan and Ghassem Nasrollazadeh from Naishabur—had previously been arrested and condemned to death for drug-related crimes.

As of the time of this report, the news of these executions have not been announced in government media, especially those close to the Judiciary system of Islamic Republic of Iran.
