Capital Punishment of a Prisoner Implemented in Gorgan, Golestan

Hossein Ali Sobhani, a prisoner from Sari sentenced to death for drug-related offenses, has been executed in the Gorgan Central Prison, Golestan Province.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the capital punishment of a prisoner was carried out in the Central Prison of Gorgan. The identity of this prisoner has been confirmed as Hossein Ali Sobhani, 37 years old, from Sari, Mazandaran Province.

The Iran Human Rights Organization has reported that Hossein Ali Sobhani was apprehended in September 2021. He was subsequently sentenced to death on charges related to drug crimes.

The news of the execution of this prisoner has not been published in the state media of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly in media outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
