Mina Khani Representing Hengaw at Berlin Parliament Q&A Session

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, Mina Khani, a member of Hengaw, participated in a Q&A session at the Berlin Parliament, Germany, upon official invitation. The session focused on the human rights situation in Iran, the status of Iranian migrants, and the Iranian opposition, with several members of parliament and representatives of various German parties in attendance. Khani gave a speech addressing these issues.
In her speech, Mina Khani first discussed the enforced disappearance of Zhakhan Baran, a Kurdish poet from Ilam and a member and collaborator of Hengaw. She also highlighted the precarious and concerning conditions of civil activists seeking asylum in Turkey, Iraq, and other neighboring countries of Iran. In another part of her speech, Khani talked about being pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran and her interactions with German security and criminal police.
Khani also addressed the situation of social groups under pressure in Iran and urged Berlin politicians to develop a more systematic plan to support individuals persecuted both inside and outside of Iran.
The session included presentations from Mina Khani, a member of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, alongside representatives from a few other organizations who discussed the political situation in Iran and its impact on migrants and the opposition. Subsequently, they responded to questions from the representatives of German parties on these subjects.
