Sumayeh Akhtarshomar, Member of Marivan Teachers’ Union, Dismissed from Her Position by Iranian Authorities
Hengaw: Sunday, May 26, 2024
Sumayeh Akhtarshomar, a member of the Marivan Teachers’ Trade Union Association, has been dismissed by the Board of Administrative Violations of the Education Department of Marivan. This decision was made based on baseless allegations, such as wearing Kurdish clothes and publishing “provocative content.”
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Akhtarshomar, a Kurdish teacher from the village of Rovar in Sarvabad city and a resident of Marivan, was dismissed after 17 years of service in the city’s schools.
The Kurdistan Province Administrative Violation Board of the Education Department issued the dismissal order without presenting any documentation or allowing the presence of Akhtarshomar or her lawyer.
The verdict against Akhtarshomar cites accusations such as “wearing Kurdish clothes,” which were allegedly associated with the clothing of members of Kurdish parties opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and broadcasting provocative content on the teachers’ union channel.
