Women's Rights Activist Atefeh Rangriz Arrested Again by Iranian Authorities

Atefeh Rangriz, a women's rights activist residing in Damghan, Semnan province, has been arrested once again. She had also been detained for her activism, before.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024, Atefeh Rangriz, a women's rights activist, was transferred to Shahrud Prison after being charged in Branch 1 of the Damghan Prosecutor's Office.

Previously, Atefeh Rangriz had written on her Instagram that in a new case against her, she had been accused of "forming a group with the intent to disrupt security," "propaganda against the Islamic Republic," and "spreading falsehoods on social media."

This women's rights activist was also arrested by intelligence agents in Damghan on September 10, 2023, and transferred to the intelligence detention center in Semnan.

She was eventually transferred to Shahrud Central Prison and was temporarily released on bail on October 21 of the last year.

Atefeh Rangriz has been arrested and tried by the Islamic Republic's security and judicial agencies several times to date.
