Bukan — Kurdish activist Malak Farajbeigi arrested by intelligence forces, fate unknown

Malak Farajbeigi, a 43-year-old civil and environmental activist from Bukan, was forcibly arrested late last week by Iranian intelligence agents. She has not been allowed to contact her family, and her condition and remain unknown.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, nearly 20 agents stormed Farajbeigi’s home, broke down the door, and detained her while intimidating her family members.

The agents confiscated several of Farajbeigi’s personal belongings, as well as items belonging to her family. She was then transferred to the Intelligence Department detention center in Urmia.

Farajbeigi, who also cares for her elderly mother, has been denied any communication since her arrest.

No information is available regarding the reasons for her arrest, the charges against her, or her current place of detention.
