Ten days ago, Babak Faramarzi, a Kurdish man from Mahabad, was re-arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Faramarzi had previously been detained during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on August 17, 2024, 24-year-old Babak Faramarzi was arrested by Iranian security forces on one of the streets of Mahabad.

An informed source close to Faramarzi’s family reported that he has not been in contact with anyone since his arrest, and no information regarding his fate has been made available over the past ten days.

It is worth noting that Faramarzi had been previously summoned by the security institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on multiple occasions but had refused to comply.

Babak Faramarzi was also arrested by security forces on Saturday, November 19, 2022, during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement.
