Hengaw: Monday, August 12, 2024

Firmesk Babaei, a Kurdish woman activist from Paveh, Kermanshah province, was re-arrested by Iranian authorities and transferred to the Intelligence Detention Center in that city after her family was summoned to the Intelligence Office in Paveh.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, August 12, 2024, after Babaei's family was summoned to the Iranian Intelligence Office in Paveh, Firmesk Babaei was arrested and moved to this organization's detention center in Kermanshah.

A reliable source informed Hengaw that following more than two hours of interrogation involving Babaei's family members—including her father, mother, younger brother, and Babaei herself— the authorities proceeded to arrest her.

Hengaw’s sources further reported that when Babaei's family protested against her arrest, security forces responded with violence. As a result of this harsh treatment, Firmesk's mother fell ill and was taken to Paveh Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical care.

Eyewitnesses noted that security forces have surrounded the room in the hospital where Firmesk's mother is being treated.

It is also worth noting that last year, on the eve of the anniversary of Khomeini's Jihad Fatwa against Kurdistan, Firmesk Babaei was violently arrested by Iranian government forces and transferred to a detention center.
