Behrad Ali-Kenari, a Protest Rapper, Sentenced to Imprisonment

Behrad Ali-Kenari, a young rapper from Ahwaz, has been sentenced to six months of imprisonment by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Besides this recent case, he was also detained during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement and in connection with the case of Rouhollah Ajamiyan in 2022.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Behrad Ali-Kenari from Ahwaz was recently sentenced to six months of imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court on the charge of "collaborating with media against the Islamic Republic of Iran."

According to Behrad Ali-Kenari, this sentence has been finalized, and he must soon head to Qom Central Prison to serve his six-month sentence.

The singer was arrested on Monday, May 14, 2024, and was temporarily released from prison on bail until the end of the legal proceedings.

This protest singer was also arrested in connection with the case of the killing of Rouhollah Ajamiyan, a member of the Basij, during the fortieth-day memorial ceremony of Hadis Najafi, a victim of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, in November 2022.

He was released from prison on April 17, 2023, after spending approximately six months in detention, following the issuance of an amnesty and sentence reduction decree.
