The Death Sentences of Two Prisoners Carried Out in Zanjan Central Prison

The death sentences of two Turkish prisoners, Taher Ganj Khanloo and Mohammadreza Nemati, who had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases for premeditated murder, were carried out in Zanjan Central Prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, October 27, 2024, the death sentence of Taher Ganj Khanloo, a 40 year old from Zarrinabad, Zanjan, who was also a member of the Iranian police force, was carried out in Zanjan Central Prison.

An informed source reported that Taher Ganj Khanloo had been arrested in September 2023 on charges of premeditated murder of Hojjat Etebar, the head of Imam Sadiq Seminary of Zanjan, and subsequently sentenced to death. Due to personal disputes, he had killed Hojjat Etebar with five gunshots.

Additionally, at dawn on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the death sentence of another prisoner, Mohammadreza Nemati, a 31 year old from Tarom, Zanjan Province, was also carried out in the same prison. He had previously been arrested on charges of premeditated murder and later sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.

To date, the news of the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by the Iranian state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
