Report on the Execution of a Woman in Tabriz Prison

Late last week, the death sentence of a woman identified as Zahra Feyzi, who had been sentenced to death for premeditated murder, was carried out in Tabriz Central Prison. She is the 17th woman to be executed in Iranian prisons in 2024.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Human Organization for Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the death sentence of 41-year-old Zahra Feyzi, a Turkish woman from Tabriz, was carried out in the city’s central prison.
Hengaw sources reported that about four years ago, Zahra Feyzi was arrested on charges of murdering her husband and was sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary.
It is noteworthy that the victim’s family had demanded a sum of 4.5 billion tomans from Feyzi’s family to halt the execution, but her family was unable to provide the required amount.
According to statistics recorded by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, since the beginning of 2024, at least 17 women have been executed in Iranian prisons, 8 of whom were sentenced to death for premeditated murder.
