Kurdish man sentenced to imprisonment by Iranian judiciary in Oshnovieh

Idris Karsaz, a Kurdish resident of Oshnavieh has been sentenced to three years in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Idris Karsaz, a 47-year-old resident of Oshnavieh, was recently sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh to three years of imprisonment on charges of “membership and collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.” The sentence has been officially communicated to him.

Karsaz was arrested on Wednesday, July 3, during a raid by security forces on his home, conducted without a search warrant. He was transferred to Urmia Central Prison. After 47 days of detention, he was temporarily released from Oshnavieh Central Prison on bail of 600 million tomans, pending the completion of his legal proceedings.

It is worth noting that during his 42-day detention in Urmia, Idris Karsaz was denied contact with his family and access to legal representation. The security agencies also withheld any information regarding his condition and whereabouts from his family.

Afterward, he was transferred to Oshnavieh Central Prison, where he spent an additional five days in detention.
