Eiman Kazemi receives prison sentence and 74 lashes over January protests

The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Eiman Kazemi, a Kurdish man from Bojnord and a detainee from the January protests, to three months in prison and 74 lashes.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 103 of the Bojnord Criminal Court II issued the sentence, which has been suspended for five years.

The court convicted Kazemi of “disrupting public order and peace,” with time already spent in detention counted toward his prison term, while acquitting him of “carrying a bladed weapon.”

Iranian forces arrested Kazemi in connection with the January 2026 protests. He was released after 20 days in detention.
