Iran: Baha’i Adherent, Sentenced to Imprisonment in Rasht

Faraz Razavian, a Baha’i adherent residing in Rasht, has been sentenced to two years and one day of imprisonment, along with a fine and deprivation of social rights by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht  Sentenced Faraz Razavian to two years and one day of imprisonment on charges related to the education and promotion of the Baha’i faith.

In addition to the prison sentence, Razavian has been fined 80 million tomans and deprived of his social rights for five years as part of his supplementary punishment.

Razavian, who was accompanying his mother, Mozhgan Samimi, to the court session, was found guilty without any prior notice or announcement. Later, in a separate session, he was tried on the same charges as his mother, related to the education and promotion of the Baha’i faith.

Mozhgan Samimi has also been sentenced to two years in prison, fined 80 million tomans, and deprived of social rights.
