Prisoner executed in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran

The execution of a prisoner named Reza Karimi Zarasvand, who had previously been sentenced to death for “premeditated murder,” was carried out in Farrokhshahr Prison, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the execution of Reza Karimi Zarasvand, a Lur prisoner from the village of Chaghakhur in Farrokhshahr, was carried out in the central prison of the city.

Sources familiar with the case confirmed that Zarasvand was arrested four years ago on charges of premeditated murder and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, state-affiliated media outlets, particularly those connected to the judiciary, have not yet published the execution.
