Keyvan Rahimi, a Kurdish social activist and media figure from Saqqez, Kurdistan (Sanandaj) province, has been sentenced to eight months of imprisonment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Keyvan Rahimi, a resident of Saqqez, was sentenced to eight months of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” by the Revolutionary Court in Saqqez, presided over by Mojtaba Ghaffari.
Earlier in spring 2024, Rahimi spent two months in solitary confinement at the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center without access to his basic rights.
This media activist was arrested on Monday, April 29, 2024, when Intelligence Agency forces raided his home in Saqqez.
After two months in detention, he was ultimately released on temporary bail of two billion tomans, pending the completion of his trial process.
Previously, on October 5, 2023, Keyvan Rahimi was also arrested after supporting the civil activities of Hero Qadimi, Sherko Hejazi, and Azad Amini, and advocating for the end of their pre-trial detentions. He expressed this support in the “Pirseman Saqqez” Telegram channel, where he serves as one of the administrators.
