Afghan Prisoner executed in Zahedan Central Prison

The death sentence of Mohammad Nabi Papalzehi, a 28-year-old Baloch man from Afghanistan, has been carried out in Zahedan Central Prison. He had been convicted on drug-related charges by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Papalzehi, who was residing in Zabol, was executed at dawn on Sunday, November 10, 2024. 

He was arrested in Zahedan two years ago on drug charges and was subsequently sentenced to death by the city's Revolutionary Court. 

Notably, Mohammad Nabi Papalzehi was moved to solitary confinement on Friday in preparation for his execution and had a final visit with his family on Saturday. 

As of the time of this report, the execution has not been announced by state media, including judiciary-affiliated outlets.
