Mashhad: Khosrow Alikordi, Kurdish lawyer, sentenced to one year in prison

Khosrow Alikordi, a Kurdish lawyer currently imprisoned in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, has been sentenced to one year of imprisonment by the Islamic Republic of Iran judiciary.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khosrow Alikordi, detained in Vakilabad Prison, was recently sentenced by Branch 5 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Yazdankhah, to one year of imprisonment for “propaganda against the state.” Sharing content on social media was cited as an example of the charges against him. The trial for Mr. Alikordi was held in October 2024 in the aforementioned branch.
Hengaw has learned that Khosrow Alikordi, who was serving his previous sentence on an open-prison basis, was rearrested on the morning of Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in front of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
He was later detained on Saturday, February 17, 2024, after being summoned by the Enforcement Office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Mashhad to serve the one-year prison sentence and was transferred to Vakilabad Prison.
Earlier, in late November 2023, Khosrow Alikordi was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Mashhad Islamic Revolutionary Court to one year of imprisonment, two years of exile, two years of prohibition from leaving the country, two years of disqualification from practicing law, and two years of a ban from online presence.
It is worth noting that on August 1, 2023, Khosrow Alikordi was arrested after being summoned to Branch 901 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Mashhad and transferred to Vakilabad Prison. On August 5, 2023, he was temporarily released on bail until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
In a separate part of his case, Alikordi had previously been convicted by Branch 3 of Mashhad’s Criminal Court Two for “spreading falsehoods” and fined 21 million tomans.
