Prisoner executed in Lakan Prison, Rasht

The death sentence of a Gilak prisoner identified as Hojjat Panahi, was carried out in Lakan Prison in Rasht. He had previously been convicted of “premeditated murder.”

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Saturday, January 25, 2025, Hojjat Panahi, 38 years old, was executed in Lakan Prison, Rasht.

A knowledgeable source stated that this prisoner was arrested three years ago on charges of killing his friend over “honor-related” issues. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

So far, the execution has not been announced in official state media or outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
