Isfahan resident arrested to serve prison sentence

Najaf Abouali, a resident of Isfahan, was arrested and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in the city to serve his five-month prison sentence.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, January 20, 2025, Najaf Abouali, a resident of Isfahan, was arrested and transferred to Dastgerd Prison after being summoned and reporting to the Sixth Branch of the Criminal Sentences Enforcement Office at the Isfahan Prosecutor's Office to serve his five-month prison term.

In November 2024, he was sentenced to eight months in prison by Branch 118 of the Second Criminal Court of Isfahan on charges of "spreading falsehoods and distributing immoral content." The sentence was eventually reduced to five months.

On October 30, 2022, Najaf Abouali was arrested alongside protest singer Toomaj Salehi and Mohammadreza Nikraftar in the province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. After enduring forty days of detention, he was released on bail. The related case was later pardoned and declared closed.
