Kurdish political prisoner Yousef Haji-Khosh sentenced to ten more months in prison

Yousef Haji-Khosh, a Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnavieh (Shno) and a member of the Central Council and Executive Board of the United Kurdish Front, has been sentenced to an additional ten months of imprisonment. He is currently serving a previous prison sentence in Naqadeh Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 48-year-old Yousef Haji-Khosh, a resident of Kohneh Qala village, Oshnavieh County, was sentenced to ten months in prison by the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ansari.

Haji-Khosh was previously arrested on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home by security forces, who used force during the operation. His arrest was linked to his role in organizing Newroz celebrations. He was subsequently transferred to a security detention center in Urmia for interrogation.

After a period of detention, he was moved to Oshnavieh Central Prison and was temporarily released on Thursday, May 30, 2024, after posting a one-billion-toman bail.

Later, the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court sentenced him to three years and four months in prison on charges of “collaboration and communication with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.” Of this sentence, nine months were designated as mandatory imprisonment, while the remaining time was suspended.

While serving his sentence in Oshnavieh Central Prison, he was transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, where he remains incarcerated.
