Two prisoners, including a woman, executed in Shiraz Central Prison

The death sentences of a female prisoner with the surname Bagherinejad and a male prisoner named Mehdi Iranian were carried out in Shiraz Central Prison. Both had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, February 16, 2025, Mehdi Iranian, 28, and a 45-year-old woman with the surname Bagherinejad were executed in Shiraz Central Prison.

Mehdi Iranian and the other prisoner were arrested in separate cases four and five years ago, respectively, on charges of premeditated murder. Both were later sentenced to death by Islamic Republic of Iran's judiciary.

As of the time of this report, state-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary, have not announced these executions.
