Security forces arrest three Kurdish family members in Urmia

Rana Khoran and Rozhan Khoran, two Kurdish sisters from Urmia, along with their uncle, Jalal Farrokhi, have been arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the evening of Monday, May 26, 2025, the three family members—residents of Ziveh in the Margavar district of Urmia—were detained during a raid on their home.

Sources familiar with the case reported that the security forces entered the residence at night, using intimidation and force.

It is noteworthy that Rana and Rozhan Khoran, along with Jalal Farrokhi, had previously been arrested in April of this year in connection with Newroz celebrations in Urmia.

No official information has been released regarding the reasons for their arrest, their current location, or any charges filed against them.
