Seven prisoners executed in the prisons of Hamedan, Qazvin, Tabriz, Ardabil, and Birjand

The death sentences of at least seven prisoners—identified as Mohammad Raee, Iman Shokrollahzadeh, Hassan Fathi, Ramin Alaei, Mohammad Iraqi, Ali Vatanikhah, and Jalal Ashkani—have recently been carried out in the prisons of Hamedan, Qazvin, Tabriz, Ardabil, and Birjand. These people had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offenses and premeditated murder and were subsequently sentenced to death.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Jalal Ashkani, a resident of Hamedan, was executed in the central prison of this city. He had been arrested four years ago on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the same day, the execution of Iman Shokrollahzadeh, a 42-year-old Tat man from Takestan, was carried out in the central prison of Qazvin (Choubindar Prison). Shokrollahzadeh had been detained five years earlier on charges of premeditated murder and was later sentenced to death.
As part of this wave of executions, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, three Turk prisoners were executed in Tabriz Central Prison. The executed prisoners were identified as Hassan Fathi, 36, from Hashtrud; Ramin Alaei, 33, from Tabriz; and Mohammad Iraqi, 26, also from Tabriz.
According to informed sources, Hassan Fathi and Ramin Alaei had been detained three years ago on drug-related charges, while Mohammad Iraqi had been arrested on charges of premeditated murder before being sentenced to death.
Additionally, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the execution of another Turk prisoner, Ali Vatanikhah, a 27-year-old from Parsabad, Ardabil, was carried out in the central prison of Ardabil. He had been arrested three years ago for premeditated murder during a mass brawl and was subsequently sentenced to death.
Furthermore, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, Mohammad Raee, a 33-year-old resident of the village of “Moreshk” in Torbat Heydarieh, Khorasan Razavi province, was executed in Birjand Central Prison. He had been arrested three years earlier on charges of premeditated murder and was later sentenced to death.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these seven prisoners has not been publicly announced by state media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary.
