Sanandaj: Kurdish civil activist Baran Saeidi arrested again

Baran Saeidi, a Kurdish civil activist and women’s rights advocate in Sanandaj, has been arrested by intelligence forces and transferred to an unknown location. She was arrested during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Women, Life, Freedom) movement.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, March 10, 2025, 45-year-old civil Kurdish activist Baran Saeidi was arrested in Sanandaj. Her arrest appears to be related to her participation in a recent International Women’s Day event in the city.
A source close to Baran Saeidi’s family stated that intelligence forces raided her home without a warrant, using intimidation tactics, and arrested her.
Previously, during the “Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, Baran Saeidi had also been arrested by government forces in Sanandaj on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. She was released after nearly two months from the city’s Juvenile Detention Center.
This civil activist has been summoned and interrogated multiple times in the past due to her activism by government authorities.
