Two prisoners, including an Afghan national, executed in Shiraz Central Prison

The death sentences of Zaki Zakari, an Afghan national, and Saber Fathollahi, a Gilak prisoner from Rasht, were carried out in Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad). Both had been convicted on drug-related charges.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, March 9, 2025, 30-year-old Saber Fathollahi from Rasht and approximately 27-year-old Zaki Zakari, an Afghan national, were executed in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.

Sources confirmed that Saber Fathollahi and Zaki Zakari had been arrested three and two years ago, respectively, on drug-related charges and were sentenced to death.

Zakari’s family, who reside in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, were denied the opportunity for a final visit before his execution.

As of the time of reporting, state-run media, particularly judiciary-affiliated outlets, have not published any news of these executions.
