Newroz celebrations in Kurdistan: Kurdish language teacher and activist Keywan Minui arrested in Marivan

Keywan Minui, a Kurdish civil and environmental activist and Kurdish language instructor from the village of Ney in Marivan, has been arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department and taken to an undisclosed location. He has previously faced detention due to his activism.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, 32-year-old Keywan Minui—a prominent civil and environmental activist and Kurdish language teacher—was detained by intelligence forces.
Sources confirmed that his mobile phone was also confiscated at the time of arrest.
Minui holds a degree in sociology from Payam Noor University in Marivan and is an active member of both the Vejin Cultural Association and the Green Chia environmental group in the city.
He was previously arrested on Saturday, November 13, 2021, along with five other residents of Ney, by the Intelligence Department. After nearly 80 days in detention, he was released on bail on January 30, 2022.
In recent years, Minui has played a key role in promoting Kurdish language education, both through student initiatives at Payam Noor University and his work with the Vejin Cultural Association.
