Kurdish writer Majid Karimi detained after intelligence forces raid home in Tehran

Majid Karimi, also known as Majid Rahvard, a Kurdish writer, poet, and volunteer Kurdish-language teacher from Quchan in Razavi Khorasan Province, was detained by Iranian intelligence forces in Tehran last week and released after 24 hours of interrogation. During the raid, agents confiscated his mobile phone and laptop.
Based on a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, intelligence forces raided Karimi’s home in Tehran on the evening of Thursday, May 14, 2026, before arresting him and transferring him to a security detention facility. During his detention, authorities accused him of collaborating with Kurdish political parties.
Hengaw has learned that six intelligence agents from Quchan took part in the raid and entered the home without presenting warrants. The agents carried out a full search of the residence and seized several personal belongings, including Karimi’s mobile phone and laptop.
According to an informed source, Karimi underwent 24 hours of intensive interrogation before being released late on Friday, May 15, and abandoned on a street in Tehran.
Majid Karimi (Rahvard) is regarded as a well-known Kurdish cultural figure in Khorasan and has spent years working in poetry, writing, and the voluntary teaching of the Kurdish language.
