Prisoner killed with a cold weapon during inmate altercation in Kermanshah Central Prison

Hengaw: Wednesday, April 2, 2025
Saman Jalilian, a Kurdish prisoner held in Kermanshah Central Prison (Kermashan), was fatally wounded by a cold weapon during a violent altercation among inmates.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Saman Jalilian passed away after spending thirteen days hospitalized due to severe injuries sustained in a prison fight at Dizelabad Prison, Kermanshah.
The prisoner suffered critical head trauma on March 17, 2025, after being attacked with a cold weapon and striking his head against hard surfaces, which left him in a coma.
Saman Jalilian had previously been sentenced to imprisonment on charges of “theft” and was ultimately transferred to Dizelabad Prison.
Hengaw has consistently warned about the lack of safety for inmates within Iran’s prisons.
Investigations and documented reports indicate that, in addition to the presence of a drug trafficking mafia within Iran’s prisons, various types of cold weapons are regularly smuggled into prison facilities under the supervision and financial involvement of prison officials.
