Kamran Rawaz, a 28-year-old Kurdish man from Mahabad, has remained in detention for more than four months without a verdict and in a state of legal uncertainty in Mahabad Prison.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rawaz, a father of one, remains in limbo 128 days after his arrest. Despite repeated transfers between the Intelligence Department’s detention facility and Mahabad Prison, his legal status has not been clarified.
Hengaw has learned that Rawaz was held in a detention facility for 67 days following his arrest before being transferred to Mahabad Prison. About a month later, he was returned to the Intelligence Department’s detention facility for renewed interrogation and, after two weeks, was transferred back to Mahabad Prison.
Rawaz was arrested on July 11, 2025, by security forces without a warrant and amid intimidation at his family home in Mahabad.
No clear information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him or his current legal status.
