Three lawyers sentenced to prison, nine others fined for political charges in Mashhad

Twelve lawyers have been sentenced to a combined total of three years in prison and 240 million tomans in fines, following charges related to “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
According to reports obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Farzaneh Safari, Amin Shahla, and Mohammadreza Yazdani were each sentenced by Branch 5 of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad to one year in prison. However, half of the sentences for Safari and Shahla, and three-quarters of Yazdani’s sentence have been suspended for five years.
In addition, Sahar Dashti, Enayatollah Karamati, and Kazem Chazgi were each fined 20 million tomans in lieu of three months and one day of discretionary prison time.
Lawyers Mehdi Mohammad Hosseinian, Sajad Javadi, and Amirdokht Bahareh Barzegar were fined 40 million tomans each in place of six months and one day of imprisonment.
Faezeh Seyyedi, Mitra Izadifar, and Rouhollah Hosseini were each fined 20 million tomans, also by the Mashhad Revolutionary Court.
These sentences were issued under the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”
All twelve lawyers were initially prosecuted in 2022 under the charge of "propaganda against the state," and their cases were included under a nationwide amnesty directive.
