The death sentences of two prisoners, Feyzollah Karami and Shamseddin Fazli—who had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses and premeditated murder, respectively—have been carried out in the central prisons of Qom and Tabriz.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the death sentence of Feyzollah Karami, a resident of Varamin in Tehran Province, was carried out in Qom Central Prison on charges related to drug offenses.

Also, at dawn on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the death sentence of 27-year-old Shamseddin Fazli, a Turkish man from Tabriz, was carried out in the city’s central prison on the charge of premeditated murder.

Feyzollah Karami had been arrested three years ago along with his co-defendant Nasir Abbasi on drug-related charges and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. Nasir Abbasi is scheduled to be executed next week.

Simultaneously with Karami’s execution, the death sentence of another prisoner, Sohrab Heydari, from the city of Ray in Tehran Province, was also carried out in Qom Central Prison. That case had previously been reported by Hengaw.

Shamseddin Fazli had also been arrested three years ago following a group altercation in front of the Emamieh fruit and vegetable market stall on Meraj Boulevard in Tabriz, and was sentenced to qisas (retributive execution) on a charge of premeditated murder.

As of the time this report was published, the executions of these two prisoners have not been reported by state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
