Two men executed in Tabriz over drug offenses: Mehran Zolfi and Asghar Nourinia

The death sentences of two Turkish prisoners, Mehran Zolfi and Asghar Nourinia, were carried out at Tabriz Central Prison. They had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases related to drug-related offenses.
According to a report received by the Organization for Human Rights of Hengaw, at dawn on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Mehran Zolfi, 27, from Tabriz, and Asghar Nourinia, 35, from Jolfa, were executed in Tabriz Central Prison.
Asghar Nourinia was arrested five years ago and Mehran Zolfi four years ago, in separate cases involving drug-related charges. Both were subsequently sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
