Final Family Visit Takes Place; Life of Political Prisoner Mohsen Langar-Neshin in Grave Danger

Hengaw: Tuesday, April 29, 2025
The family of Mohsen Langar-Neshin, a political prisoner sentenced to death, has held a final visit with him — a strong indicator that his execution is imminent. Langar-Neshin has been transferred to solitary confinement at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in preparation for the implementation of his sentence.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the family of 34-year-old Mohsen Langar-Neshin, from Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, held what authorities have termed the “last visit” before his execution.
Langar-Neshin was moved to solitary confinement on Saturday, April 26, to await execution. He had previously been sentenced to death by Branch 15 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, on charges of “espionage.”
On February 16, 2025, he was transferred from Ward 4 of Evin Prison to Ghezel Hesar Prison. Prior to this, he had already spent 20 months imprisoned at Evin.
During his 665 days of detention, Langar-Neshin spent nearly 12 months in Ward 209 of Evin Prison, the notorious Ministry of Intelligence detention center, where he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture aimed at extracting forced confessions.
Hengaw has obtained a 22-minute audio recording in which Langar-Neshin describes in detail the torture and abuses he endured, as well as the efforts by authorities to fabricate a case against him.
As part of the same coerced case, he was also threatened with the arrest, harassment, and mistreatment of his family members, linked to accusations of involvement in the pursuit and killing of a senior IRGC officer.
Langar-Neshin was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Tehran on July 3, 2023, and spent 43 days under intense torture before being transferred to Evin Prison.
The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights warns that Langar-Neshin’s life is in imminent danger and that the risk of his execution remains extremely high. Hengaw urgently calls on international organizations and human rights defenders to intervene immediately to prevent the execution and save his life.
