Seven prisoners, including four Baloch men, executed in Birjand Central Prison

The death sentences of seven prisoners were carried out in Birjand Central Prison, located in the capital of South Khorasan Province. Among those executed were four Baloch inmates—Khosrow Sarani, Mahmoud Sarani (Rakhshani), Yousef Sorourvash (Narouei), and Alireza Lalouzai—as well as three others identified as Mousa Shokoohi, Mojtaba Lakzaei, and Ali Nouri.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, May 4, 2025, the executions were carried out for Mahmoud Sarani, 41, from Sarani village, Hirmand County; Khosrow Sarani, 42, father of two, from Doost Mohammad, Hirmand; Yousef Sorourvash, 52, father of four, from Zahedan; Alireza Lalouzai, approximately 52, resident of Mashhad; Mousa Shokoohi, 40, from Torbat-e Jam, Razavi Khorasan; Mojtaba Lakzaei, 34, father of one, originally from Zabol and residing in Zahedan; Ali Nouri, 35, father of two, from Zabol and residing in Azadshahr, Golestan Province.

Mojtaba Lakzaei had been arrested two years ago, while Mahmoud Sarani, Yousef Sorourvash, Alireza Lalouzai, and Mousa Shokoohi were arrested three years ago. Khosrow Sarani and Ali Nouri had each been detained four years ago. All were sentenced to death in separate cases on drug-related charges.

As of the time this report was prepared, news of their executions has not been reported by official Iranian media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
