Taher Haji Ghorbani, a political detainee and resident of Tehran, has been sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to a total of 14 years and 2 months of imprisonment.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court convicted Haji Ghorbani on multiple charges, sentencing him to 6 years for insulting sacred values, 5 years and 6 months for assembly and collusion against internal and external security, 2 years for spreading false information, and 8 months for propaganda against the state.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed several supplementary punishments, including a monetary fine, a two-year ban on residing in Tehran and neighboring provinces, a travel ban, and a prohibition on membership in political groups or associations.

In accordance with Iran’s sentence aggregation law, only the most severe sentence—six years of imprisonment—will be enforceable.

Haji Ghorbani was arrested on February 3, 2025, by security forces at his home in Tehran and was subsequently transferred to Evin Prison.

In March 2025, a bail amounting to 3.5 billion tomans was issued for his temporary release. However, judicial and security authorities refused to accept the bond.
