The death sentences of two Baloch prisoners, Jaber Shahkaramzehi and Alim Barahouei, were carried out in the central prisons of Isfahan and Ghezel Hesar (Karaj), respectively. Both men had previously been convicted by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran on drug-related charges.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the execution of 38-year-old Jaber Shahkaramzehi, a resident of Khash in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, was carried out at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

On the same day, 67-year-old Alim Barahouei, a resident of Zahedan and father of 22 children, was executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

Shahkaramzehi had been arrested seven years earlier in Naeen, Isfahan Province, on charges related to drug offenses and was subsequently sentenced to death. In the days leading up to his execution, he was transferred to solitary confinement and met with his family for a final visit.

Barahouei had been arrested six years ago on similar charges and was also sentenced to death. He was transferred from the general ward to solitary confinement one day before his execution.

Iranian state media—including outlets affiliated with the judiciary—have not reported on the executions.
