Hengaw _ Saturday, May 24, 2025

Mohammad Rasoulpour, a 53-year-old Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnavieh (Shno), has been sentenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran's judiciary to one year of imprisonment. He is currently serving a previous prison sentence in Oshnavieh Prison.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rasoulpour was sentenced by Branch 101 of Oshnavieh Criminal Court II, presided over by Judge Ali Ansari, to four months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state,” and an additional eight months for “collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”

His court session was held via videoconference on Saturday, April 12, 2025. In the same ruling, he was denied his right to temporarily release for six months.

Rasoulpour had previously been arrested on Saturday, November 16, 2024, to begin serving a two-year prison sentence, and was transferred to Oshnavieh Central Prison.

Earlier, he had been sentenced by the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court, also presided over by Judge Ali Ansari, to two years in prison on charges of “membership in and collaboration with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan” and “propaganda against the state.” That sentence was later reduced to one year and six months.

It is worth noting that Rasoulpour was initially arrested on July 4, 2024, during a violent raid by Intelligence Ministry forces on his home in the village of Kohneh Qala (Koneh Qala). He was released from Oshnavieh Central Prison on July 14 after nearly two weeks in detention, on bail set at 600 million tomans, pending trial.
