Khaled Bayzidi transferred from Oshnavieh Prison to hospital following cardiac complication
Hengaw – Wednesday, November 5, 2025
Khaled Bayzidi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnavieh recently sentenced to five years in prison, has been transferred from Oshnavieh Prison to a hospital after experiencing a cardiac complication. Despite a medical certificate confirming that he is unable to tolerate imprisonment, he remains in custody. His condition is reported as unstable, and he is being held in the intensive care unit.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bayzidi, 43, was transferred to a medical facility on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Sources describe his condition as serious following his transfer from the city’s central prison.
Bayzidi’s detention is being enforced despite a specialist medical opinion stating that imprisonment poses a significant and potentially life-threatening risk due to his heart condition.
He was sentenced to five years in prison by Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court and subsequently transferred to the city’s prison to serve his sentence.
Bayzidi was initially arrested on June 19, 2025, by Iranian security forces. He was later released on temporary bail pending trial before being returned to prison to begin serving his sentence.
