Mohammad-Amin Rastegari and Behnam Ghaffari executed in Semnan and Yasuj Prisons

The death sentences of two prisoners, Mohammad-Amin Rastegari and Behnam Ghaffari, have been carried out in the central prisons of Semnan and Yasuj. Both prisoners had previously been convicted on charges of homicide and drug-related offenses, respectively.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Behnam Ghaffari, a 31-year-old Turkish man from Jolfa and father of one, was executed in Yasuj Central Prison. He had been arrested three years earlier on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

A day earlier, at dawn on Monday, June 2, Mohammad-Amin Rastegari was executed in Semnan Central Prison. He had been convicted of homicide and sentenced to death.

State media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not publicly announced either execution.
